The Blood Gospel: The Order of the Sanguines Series
A very good start to the series, but then with an author like James Rollins I guess that's to be expected.
This book follows 3 people, Erin Granger an archaeologist, Jordan Stone a Army Ranger Forensic Investigator, and a Ruhn Korza a priest belonging to a mysterious order.
All three are brought together to investigate the collapse a historical site that leaked so kind of toxic gas and killed a bunch of tourists. From there they are lead on a journey that if not completed will destroy world.
I enjoyed this one very much, lots of action, and plenty of drama. My only issue was with the main female character, Erin Granger. First she starts having feelings for Jordan Stone, the Army Ranger. Then she sees where he used to have a wedding ring on his finger, but she still makes out with him. Then she finds out that his wife died over a year ago and he had a hard time letting go. So what does she do? She gives him the cold shoulder which to me doesn't make any sense. If his not married then she free to pursue a relationship with him. Then after awhile she seems to warm up to him and things start to get hot and heavy before she puts on the brakes, which is fine its early in their relationship. But shortly after she wont even hold his hand because she feels she doesn't really know him. Where is the logic!
That was only a small part of the book so it really didn't detract from it. On a whole it was a very good book and I eagerly await book 2.
